ARML Frequently Asked Questions
What is ARML?
The American Regions Mathematics League is a national team competition featuring the following rounds:
Individual Rounds. The Individual Rounds consist of five rounds, each with two questions. One point is awarded for each question answered correctly for a total of 10 points possible per person and 150 points possible per team.
Team Round. The Team Round consists of ten questions. Each correct answer is awarded five points for a total of 50 possible points per team.
Power Round. The Power Round consists of proof-oriented questions and is worth 50 points.
Relay Round. A correct answer submitted in three minutes will be awarded five points; a correct answer submitted in six minutes will be awarded three points. Thus, there are 25 points possible per team for Relay 1 and 25 points possible per team for Relay 2.
Super Relay. A relay round in which each team submits one problem for a bag of candy and glory.

How many students per team?
15.
How many teams are we taking?
At least one, but we may take more depending on the interest.
What are the costs associated with ARML?
The cost will be roughly $215 per person (for room and board). This may change depending on how much we are sponsored, but expect to pay this amount.
How is the Tennessee State ARML Team going to be decided?
Applications will be in early April. Acceptance will be based on past math and math competition experience.
Where is the competition going to be?
Western Carolina University in Cullowhee, NC
When is the competition?
Friday, May 30th, and Saturday, May 31st
Who can compete?
Competing students must be in the 12th grade or lower. They cannot have graduated from high school in a prior academic year, and they must be 18 years or younger as of Dec. 31st of the academic year of the ARML competition. All team members MUST be from Tennessee.
