What is the Tennessee Math Coalition?

The Tennessee Math Coalition is a student-run 501(c)(3) registered nonprofit dedicated to spreading a passion for mathematics across Tennessee and beyond.

Who can apply?

This opportunity is open to all Tennessee students. Not sure if you’re eligible? Just apply!

Do I need prior math experience?

No specific prior math competition experience is required! We welcome students of all math backgrounds who are passionate about mathematics and want to help spread that passion to others.

Can I apply if I am out of state?

If you're interested in joining our team from outside Tennessee, please email us at connect@tnmathcoalition.org to discuss your interest.

What is the time commitment of a position?

The weekly time commitment varies depending on our event schedule. Students should be prepared to dedicate themselves to fulfilling their responsibilities.

What positions are available?

  • General Officers (e.g. Outreach, Creative Director, and similar such positions)

    • These positions focus on organizing event logistics and managing organizational needs such as finances, sponsorships, and team coordination.

    • If you have an initiative that you’d like to lead, please apply for this role.

    • We're open to flexibility—if you think a different position would better suit your skills, please note that in your application and we'll give it full consideration.

  • Competition Committee

    • Our Competition Committee mainly focuses on writing the problems and solutions for our competitions - Tennessee Math Tournament, Middle School Math Contests (MUS-MT and MBA-MT), Online Contests, and more.  Additionally, they work alongside the rest of the board for our tutoring academy, helping with the course progression and tutoring workshops. 

  • Tutoring Team

    • Our tutoring team designs their own tutoring curriculum while tutoring weekly online or at their local elementary/middle schools. They will also assist with the curriculum committee when necessary and test solve competitions such as the Tennessee Math Tournament, Middle School Math Contests (MUS-MT and MBA-MT), and Online Contests. They aid and support of other events that may come up throughout the year.

Applications are due by July 19th at 11:59 PM CST.
